QATAR World Cup 2022

Group B

Wales
England
Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

One of the biggest 2022 World Cup group matches sees Wales take on England at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan. This is the 104th edition of this historic fixture, but it marks the first time they have played each other at the World Cup.

Wales go into the match as underdogs in the Match Betting, but that is a tag they have recently relished. Having upset Belgium at Euro 2016 and Turkey at Euro 2020, Rob Page’s side will hope to add another scalp to their collection here. They have the firepower to do so, with Gareth Bale providing the biggest threat. The LAFC forward averages a goal involvement every 1.7 games for his country and has a habit of scoring in big matches – he hit the winner in their play-off final against Ukraine earlier this year. Kieffer Moore is another potential scorer. He enjoyed a terrific 2021 at international level, netting against Switzerland at the Euros and Belgium in World Cup qualifying. Keep an eye on both players’ Anytime Goal Scorer Odds on our Sportsbook.

For Gareth Southgate’s side, it is usually all about one man – Harry Kane. The skipper plays a vital role for his country and was the joint leading scorer in the UEFA section of qualifying with 12. He has continued his form into 2022, and before the tournament had already scored important goals against quality opposition in Switzerland and Poland. Goals are usually on the menu when The Three Lions play. Only one of their matches between October 2021 and June 2022 finished 0-0, while six saw over 2.5 goals.

Overall, England have dominated in this fixture. They have beaten the Welsh on 68 occasions, including at Euro 2016, thanks to a late Daniel Sturridge goal. The Three Lions also emerged with a 3-0 victory in their most recent meeting in 2020. Can they continue their imperious record against the Dragons?
