The German Open, also called the Hamburg European Open, is a men’s ATP Tour 500 tennis tournament held in Hamburg, Germany. The tournament has a long history, first played in 1892, only 12 years after Wimbledon began. Today the German Open is played on outdoor clay courts and is regularly contested by the sport’s top players, with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer both enjoying regular success here, with 2 and 4 wins, respectively.
