OverviewSheffield Wednesday first took on Swansea in October 1925 after the Welsh outfit had earned promotion to the Second Division. The Owls won that game 3-1 and then enjoyed a period of early dominance against The Swans. Indeed, the South Yorkshire side won six and drew five of the first 12 fixtures meetings between the pair and have gone on to maintain an edge in the head-to-head.
One name that will be familiar to both sets of fans is Garry Monk. The former defender played for Wednesday on loan in the 2002/03 campaign, then in 2004 he moved to Swansea where he racked up 270 appearances. Monk then went on to manage both clubs.
