Overview

This fixture was initially played in January 1915, after they were drawn against each other in the FA Cup first round. Swansea were major underdogs going into it as they plied their trade in the Southern League Division Two, whereas Blackburn Rovers were the reigning English champions. However, the Welsh outfit caused a major shock as they won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ben Benyon. Since then, Rovers have been the more dominant side in the head-to-head.

Goals are never usually in short supply when these two do battle. This was proved in the 1956/57 campaign, when a total of 12 were scored in just two matches.
