This rivalry dates back to 1933, when both clubs were in the Segunda Division. Sevilla won the first meeting between the two, as they claimed a 3-1 success on home soil. However, Osasuna got their revenge two months later with a 4-0 triumph.In 1935, the pair came face-to-face in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, with Los Nervionenses securing a convincing 5-1 aggregate victory. They also played a big European tie against each other in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup, again at the semi-final stage. This time it was a much tighter affair, and Los Rojillos even managed to win the first leg 1-0 before ultimately losing 2-1 on aggregate.
