This fixture was first played in the 1963/64 season, after Levante had won promotion to La Liga. Sevilla were in no mood to offer a warm welcome to Granotas though, as they beat them 2-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in their initial meeting.That set the tone for this rivalry, which has been dominated by Los Nervionenses ever since. Indeed, they even won nine games in a row against Levante between 2001 and 2011. The Valencia-based club’s woes against Sevilla were also highlighted in the 2018/19 season, when they were thrashed 6-2 and 5-0 in the two league matches during that campaign.
