Known as the West Lancashire derby or the M55 derby, just 17 miles separate these two clubs. They first played each other in 1901, when Preston North End secured a 4-1 win. But in 1904, it was Blackpool fans who were smiling. The Seasiders managed to beat the Lilywhites to clinch the Division Two title. Since then, they’ve played many times in the league, FA Cup, League Cup, and EFL Trophy. Many players have represented both clubs, including Tony Ellis, Andy Lonergan, and Brett Ormerod. Several managers have taken charge of both too. Sam Allardyce, Phil Brown, and Simon Grayson are three of those.
