Before PSG sat at the summit of French football, Saint Etienne were the team to beat. In fact, with PSG winning their ninth title in 2019/20, this still put them one behind Les Verts in the all-time rankings.Winning four league titles on the bounce from 1967 to 1970 they had plenty of trophies in the cabinet before PSG were even formed (in 1970). In recent years, of course PSG have had the upper hand – they did the double in 2018/19 and ran out 4-0 winners in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in the only match played between the sides in 2019/20.
