These two first locked horns in the 1938/39 season after Millwall had been promoted to the Second Division. The Lions enjoyed their first meeting with Blackburn Rovers and beat them 4-1 at The Old Den, despite being newcomers in the league. However, since then the Lancashire club have dominated in this fixture – they even racked up seven wins in eight matches against the Londoners between 1987 and 2002.

It was Millwall who claimed victory in one of the biggest games between the pair though. Indeed, in 2013 they met in an FA Cup quarter-final tie which went to a replay at Ewood Park. It wasn’t the best game, but the Bermondsey-based outfit won it 1-0.
