Overview
First played in the old first division in 1894, this is an old school fixture with some classic matches down the years. In 1980/81, Liverpool travelled to Molineux as champions and were roundly beaten 4-1, but the Merseysiders got their revenge 1-0 the next time out.This fixture saw a 20 year hiatus between 1984 and 2004 with Wolves outside the top-flight. Since then they’ve yo-yoed up and down, now settling as Premier League mainstays. Liverpool did the double in this fixture in Wolves’ first two seasons back in the bigtime, although Wanderers have enjoyed recent FA Cup success against the Reds.
