Overview
The Merseyside derby is one of the most anticipated games of the season. While it can often get heated on the pitch, historically, fans have labelled it the “friendly derby” due to mixed allegiances within local families. This is no more apparent than when you consider the geography of the grounds, with less than a mile separating Anfield and Goodison Park.Both Everton and Liverpool have been an ever-present figure in the Premier League, while the first ever matchup between the two occurred in 1894 – Everton capping off a 3-0 win. In recent years however, the Reds have come out on top more often than not, with their last defeat in the league stretching back to 2010.
