This rivalry dates back to 1891 when the two clubs were drawn against each other in the FA Cup. It was entertaining game, which was ultimately won 3-2 by Sheffield Wednesday. That was a sign of things to come and there has been plenty of high-scoring matches between them since.In 1899 Derby County thrashed The Owls 9-0 in the First Division, one of the South Yorkshire outfit’s heaviest defeats in their history. Then in 1927, there were another two goal-fests. The first saw The Rams hand out an 8-0 hammering, before Wednesday got some revenge a few months later as they were on the right side of a 6-4 score line.
