Overview
This Roses rivalry began in January 1890, when the two clubs came face-to-face in the FA Cup. It was Sheffield United who claimed victory on that day, securing a 2-1 triumph at Bramall Lane. Since then, The Blades have maintained a lead in the head-to-head and they even thrashed Burnley 10-0 in a First Division clash in 1929.However, The Clarets did manage to come out on top in one of the biggest fixtures between the pair. In 2009 they contested the Championship play-off final at Wembley and a Wade Elliott strike secured a 1-0 win and promotion for the Lancashire outfit.
