Watford enjoyed a terrific start to this rivalry. They won each of their first three matches against Brighton, all of which were in the Third Division South. But Albion responded with an 11-match unbeaten run between October 1921 and November 1925. Since then, this has been a regular fixture as the two have progressed through the leagues.
