Overview
Although this is a West London derby, the two sides have often found themselves in different divisions. As a result, the rivalry isn’t as fierce as you might expect. They first played against each other in the 1935/36 season. Chelsea won their initial clash 2-1, but Brentford bounced back with a 2-1 victory of their own a few months later. They then met a few times up until 1950, but there was then a 63-year gap before the rivalry resumed with an FA Cup tie in 2013.
