First established in 1909, the Flyweight division has seen many great champions over the years. The first of which came in 1911 in the form of Englishman Sid Smith, while the iconic Welshman Jimmy Wilde would go on to win it in 1914. Thai boxer Pongsaklek Wongjongkam holds the longest title reign with 17 title defenses.

For a long time the Flyweight division was the lightest in the sport, with the maximum weight for fighters being 112lb (50.8kg / 8st).
