Established in 1979, the Cruiserweight division was born out of a need to support the smaller heavyweights who couldn’t compete with the division’s limitless weight limit. Cruiserweight fighters are limited to 200lb (90.72kg / 14st 4lb). The first sanctioned fight between Marvin Camel and Mate Parlov ended in a draw. In the subsequent rematch, Camel emerged victorious to become the first Cruiserweight world champion.

The longest title reign is jointly held by Johnny Nelson and Marco Huck with 13 title defenses.

Notable Cruiserweight champions:

Carlos de Leon, Evander Holyfield, O’Neil Bell, Anaclet Wamba, Jonny Nelson, Marco Huck, David Haye, and Oleksandr Usyk.
