The St. Louis Blues enjoyed an outstanding start in this rivalry. They managed to win each of their first ten games against the San Jose Sharks and 17 of the first 19. Since then, the Blues have maintained a lead in the head-to-head. But the Sharks did put together a seven-game winning streak between 2007-2008. In 2016, the two franchises met in the Western Conference Finals for the first time. The San Jose Sharks lost the first game but won the series 4-2. The Blues got their revenge in the 2019 Western Conference Finals though, clinching a 4-2 series win of their own.
