Overview

Dubbed the Battle of Alberta, this is one of the most intense rivalries in the NHL. The Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames first faced off in 1980. Since then, it’s been a regular fixture, with both franchises playing in the Pacific Division. Between 1983-1988 the two rivals met four times in the postseason Division Finals. The Oilers won three of those series (1983, 1984, 1988) while the Flames triumphed just once (1986). But Calgary did enjoy a nine-game winning streak between 2010-2012.
