Montreal and Ottawa have met many times before on Labour Day. The first was way back in 1949. This is often a close one with many Labour Day games decided in the last three minutes. The Ottawa Redblacks team first played the Montreal Alouettes on Labour Day Weekend back in 2014. This fixture kicked off Labour Day weekend on the Friday night in 2021 with Vernon Adams Jr. throwing for four touchdowns and 288 yards in a 51-29 victory for the Als. And with over 150 Regular Season and play-off encounters between these two cities, it’s been a classic CFL fixture down the years.
