Overview

This is a rivalry that emerged in 1966, when the Miami Dolphins joined the NFL as an expansion team. The Buffalo Bills enjoyed early success, winning each of the first three games between the pair. But it was the Dolphins who dominated during the 1970s. During that decade, they won all 20 games against the Bills. That run set an NFL record for successive wins against one opponent. Since then, things have got better for the Bills. They even won 12 of 14 games between 1987 and 1993. That run included victories in the 1990 AFC Divisional Playoff and the 1993 AFC Championship game. The rivalry slowed up a little in the 2000s and 2010s. But it showed signs of life in 2020 when both franchises were back battling at the top of the AFC East.
