These two teams first met in 1995, when the Toronto Raptors beat the Brooklyn Nets (then New Jersey Nets) 94-79. But it wasn’t until 2004 that the rivalry stepped up a gear. That year, All-Star player Vince Carter was traded by Toronto to the Nets. This didn’t go down well with Raptors fans, who booed Carter every time he played against them. The pair then met in the playoffs for the first time in 2007, where the Nets won the series 4-2. They played again in the 2014 postseason, and it was Brooklyn who won once more. But the Raptors got their revenge in 2020 by sweeping the Nets in the Eastern Conference First Round.
