Overview

This rivalry is famous for a couple of reasons. One is that they’re the only two franchises in the NBA that share a home arena – the Staples Center. The other is that they’re both based in Los Angeles, making this one of just two same city NBA rivalries. Their first meeting as LA rivals was in 1984, when the Lakers beat the LA Clippers 108-103. The Lakers then dominated for a spell. Between the 1984-85 and 1991-92 seasons, they won all eight series the pair played. But between 2014 and 2017, it was the Clippers who dominated. They won 17 of 18 games against their neighbours during that period.
