Overview

The first meeting between these two franchises was in 1977. The Los Angeles Angels (then the California Angels) won it 4-1. Since then, this has been a rivalry that has ebbed and flowed. The Toronto Blue Jays finished with a winning record in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, but it was close in each decade. The 2010s belonged to the Angels though. They earned a 46-30 winning record that decade and even enjoyed a six-game winning streak between 2013 and 2014. Fans of both teams will remember Vernon Wells. The center fielder represented the Jays between 1999 and 2010, where he appeared in three All Star teams. He then moved to LA in 2011.
