Overview

This rivalry began in 1962, when the New York Mets joined MLB as an expansion team. But it was the San Francisco Giants who enjoyed strong early results. They won 10 of their first 11 games, a run which included a 10-1 success. In 2000, the pair met for the first time in the postseason. They contested the National League Division Series, and it was the Mets who ran out 3-1 winners. 16 years later, they played again in the postseason, this time in the NL Wild Card Game. The Giants came out on top on that occasion, defeating the Mets 3-0.
