These two franchises first came face to face in 1977. They played each other 15 times that year. The New York Yankees won nine of those games, while the Toronto Blue Jays won six. The 1985 MLB season was memorable for the pair. They were rivals for the American League East Division title that year. It was the Blue Jays who ended up in top spot, finishing 99-62 and two games ahead of the Yankees. Toronto went on to reach the ALCS that year, with the season known as the “Drive of ‘85”. Many players have played for both franchises, including Rick Cerone, Mike Morgan, and Dale Murray.
